Training Tails Class Overview
Group classes offer a fun, supportive environment where dogs and their families can learn together. All standard classes meet once a week for six weeks, with each session lasting one hour. Classes are held primarily at our training studio, with select field‑trip sessions built into each program. This structure gives dogs the consistency they need to learn new skills and the real‑world practice they need to use those skills confidently outside the classroom.
Studio lessons provide a controlled, low‑distraction space ideal for introducing new behaviors, building focus, and ensuring every team receives personalized coaching. Field‑trip locations allow dogs to practice around everyday sights, sounds, and distractions—helping them generalize their training and succeed in real‑life situations. Class sizes stay small, and all training is based on positive reinforcement to build confidence, trust, and clear communication.
Puppy Class- $235
Puppy Class is designed for puppies aged 10 weeks to 6 months and focuses on early socialization, confidence building, and foundational manners. Puppies learn essential skills such as sit, down, stay, leave it, drop, recall, leash manners, and park it (place). Common puppy challenges like nipping, chewing, jumping, and potty training are addressed throughout the course.
Puppies also gain exposure to new people, sounds, surfaces, and environments in a positive way, helping prevent fear‑based behaviors later in life. Gentle handling practice prepares them for grooming and veterinary care. Select field‑trip sessions give puppies valuable real‑world experience.
Beginner Class- $235
Beginner Class is open to dogs over 6 months old and reinforces foundational manners while helping owners address everyday challenges. Dogs learn polite greetings with people and other dogs, calmness during grooming or vet handling, and strategies for mild fear‑based behaviors.
Core skills include sit, down, stay, leave it, drop, recall, leash manners, and park it. Field‑trip sessions introduce new distractions and environments, helping dogs generalize their skills with confidence.
Intermediate Class- $235
Intermediate Class is for dogs who have completed Puppy or Beginner Class. Training focuses on advancing obedience through the 3 D’s—Distance, Distraction, and Duration. Dogs learn new skills such as heel and wait at doors, and recall reliability is strengthened while beginning to phase out food rewards.
Studio lessons build precision, while field‑trip sessions help dogs practice in more challenging, real‑world environments.
Advanced Skills (CGC Prep) – $295
Eight 1‑hour lessons
Advanced Skills prepares dogs and their handlers for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test. This class is open to dogs who have completed Intermediate Class or a Private Training Program.
Teams practice polite greetings, loose‑leash walking, heeling through crowds, reliable sit and down stays, calm dog‑to‑dog interactions, and confidence in new environments—all with minimal food rewards. Field‑trip sessions help dogs generalize these skills in real‑life settings. The final session includes the opportunity to take the official CGC Test.
Trick Training Class – $235
Trick Training is a fun, upbeat class that strengthens communication, boosts confidence, and provides great mental enrichment. Dogs learn a variety of tricks such as spin, bow, shake, crawl, weave, and more. This class is perfect for energetic dogs, shy dogs who need confidence, or any team looking to add creativity and play to their training routine.
Outdoor Adventure Class- $135
Four 1‑hour lessons held at varying outdoor locations
Outdoor Adventure Class is designed for dogs who have completed Puppy, Beginner, or a Private Training Program. Each week, the class meets at a new outdoor location to strengthen obedience and confidence in real‑world settings.
Dogs practice commands around new distractions, work on leash manners, and build social skills while exploring hiking trails and outdoor spaces. A love of the outdoors is essential, as many sessions take place on local trails. This is one of our most popular programs, and many teams return again and again for the experience.
